The most important thing on growth curves is how your baby grows over time. If he's small but growing at the appropriate rate, there's usually no cause for concern. ||Look for early signs of hunger, such as stirring and stretching, sucking motions and lip movements. Fussing and crying are later cues ||Excessive warmth and overdressing are as harmful as cold weather. Temperature inside your home should not exceed 23 degrees ||Sleep sacks and sufficient layers of clothing are safe alternatives to blankets for children less than six months of age ||Set aside time to spend with each child individually, so they don't feel like they're competing for your attention ||Reading aloud will help your baby be a better reader when she's older. ||Put a photo of a face – yours – on the side of the cot for your baby to look at. Human faces fascinate babies ||Breastfeeding releases Oxytocin which causes contractions of the uterus, helping to stop hemorrhage and initiating weight loss ||Don't allow your pet on the couch while you are holding baby. This makes dogs bigger and taller in relation to your infant and may encourage aggression. ||The pacifier’s guard or shield should have ventilation holes so the baby can breathe if the shield does get into the mouth ||
Bedwetting Do’s and Dont’s

 

Do’s

  • Encourage your child to drink normally throughout the day. It is important that they recognize the feeling of a full bladder.
  • Try To keep an eye on what your child drinks to see if any type of drink makes them produce more urine at night. They can then try stopping drinking it to see if it helps.
  • Ensure that your child has plenty of fruit, vegetables, cereal and fluids. This will help to avoid constipation which can contribute to bedwetting.
  • Ensure that your child goes to the toilet before going to bed.
  • Leave the light on at night to ensure that your child has easy access to the toilet.
  • Make sure that the mattress and bed are adequately protected.
  • Allow your child to help with changing the bed and night clothes. It does help if they are actively involved in overcoming the problem.
  • Stay calm, be prepared and try not to worry.
  • Remember, bedwetting is neither the child’s fault nor the parents. Patience, Love and encouragement will go a long way to resolving the problem for everyone in the family.

Don’ts

  • Do not get angry with your child, it’s not their fault.
  • Do not use waking the child as a long term strategy to overcome bedwetting.
