Most newborns need eight to 12 feedings a day — about one feeding every two to three hours ||Contact the doctor if your newborn isn't gaining weight, wets fewer than six diapers a day or shows little interest in feedings ||Always keep the number of Poison Centre posted beside your phone ||Make sure the highchair has a wide base, good fit, adjustable secure straps. Consider a post between the child's legs. ||The pacifier’s guard or shield should have ventilation holes so the baby can breathe if the shield does get into the mouth ||The AAP recommends sponge baths until the umbilical cord stump falls off — which might take up to three weeks ||Never tie a pacifier to your child’s crib or around your child’s neck or hand. This could cause serious injury or even death ||Try to keep other elements of your baby's routine as normal as possible during the strike. ||During growth spurts - around 6 weeks after birth — your newborn might want to be fed more often ||Ask your baby's doctor about vitamin D supplements for the baby, especially if you're breast-feeding ||
