Children who gain weight quickly during their first six months are more likely to be obese or at risk of obesity by age 3 ||To keep the eye free of infection, massage inner lower corner of the eye twice daily to empty it of old fluids ||Contact the doctor if your newborn isn't gaining weight, wets fewer than six diapers a day or shows little interest in feedings ||Presumably, your baby won't recall events from his life before age 3. Still, these early experiences outline his vision of the world ||Most newborns need eight to 12 feedings a day — about one feeding every two to three hours ||Design a kid corner and fill it with things safe for your toddler like Tupperware, toys, empty boxes, etc. ||Sleep sacks and sufficient layers of clothing are safe alternatives to blankets for children less than six months of age ||Always check the water temperature with your hand before bathing your baby. Be sure the room is comfortably warm, too ||Your baby should have 4-6 wet diapers per day. This is a great way to monitor if they're getting enough milk ||Never pick up your infant by the hands or wrists as this can put stress on the elbows. Lifting under the armpits is the safest way ||
Allergic Conjunctivitis

Allergic conjunctivitis occurs when the eye has a reaction against an allergen (an allergy-causing substance) such as dust, dander or pollen.

Symptoms
  • Red eyes
  • Dilated vessels in the conjunctiva, the membrane that covers the eye
  • Itching or burning in the eyes
  • Tearing (watery eyes)
  • Puffy eyelids, especially in the morning
  • Eye discharge

Doctor's Instructions

If the cause of the allergic reaction is identified, avoiding the allergen will solve the problem. Symptoms can be relieved by antihistamines, anti-allergic medications sold over the counter. Your doctor may also prescribe anti-inflammatory eye drops or steroid creams.

When to Call for Help

Call for an appointment with your healthcare provider if your child has symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis and if they don’t improve with over-the-counter treatments.
