This could cause serious injury or even death ||Newborns are expected to lose some weight after delivery due to fluid loss. Don’t worry ||Ask your baby's doctor about vitamin D supplements for the baby, especially if you're breast-feeding ||Set aside time to spend with each child individually, so they don't feel like they're competing for your attention ||Alternate the first breast you offer at each feed ||If your child's scalp is very crusty, put some baby oil or olive oil on the scalp 1 hour before washing to soften the crust ||Use each feeding as an opportunity to build your newborn's sense of security, trust and comfort. ||Sleep sacks and sufficient layers of clothing are safe alternatives to blankets for children less than six months of age ||Proper weight gain is the sign that your baby is having enough milk. Not crying and not comparing with other kids ||

You should offer your child water freely as much as he/she wants. Some children prefer to drink sweetened beverages. This is not advised and might be harmful on the long term.

 

Generally, offer your child the same water you are drinking.

 

If you are giving your child bottled water, review the fluoride content of the water. Fluoride is a mineral needed to prevent dental caries and is a component of our bones. Your child needs a minimum of 0.3mg/liter if his/her age is 6 months to 3 years, 0.65mg/liter if his/her age is 3 to 16 years. If your child's drinking water contains fluorides less than what was just defined, ask your doctor or call 2356 for fluoride supplementation advice.
