Exclusive breastfeeding for at least 6 months is the best prevention of food allergies ||Your toddler may be clumsy simply due to her trials to master so many new physical skills at the same time. The more active she is, the more likely she will drop things, run into things, or fall down. ||The sun is the most important source of Vit D ||Most newborns need eight to 12 feedings a day — about one feeding every two to three hours ||Don’t forget to put labels with date and time on your expressed milk bottles to check expiry dates ||When your infant is carried, he should be oriented toward the carrying adult ||To help your kid stand up to negative peer pressure, encourage him to talk, use role playing with him, get to know the parents of your child's friends and finally deal with your own peer pressure. ||Only close friends and relatives should visit you during your first month at home. They should not visit if they are sick ||Try to keep other elements of your baby's routine as normal as possible during the strike. ||The more you help your toddler put his feelings into words (“I’m mad. I want the truck.” “I’m sad. I can’t find my bear.”), the less they will show aggressive behaviour. ||
Packing my bag for the hospital: What do I need?
Written By Dr/ Mahmoud Yousry
Before the baby is born mom should prepare her bag one week to go until her due date before going to the hospital especially if the delivery was suddenly initiated (was not expected)
For the baby
  • Baby clothes (You can pack 3 sets)
  • Warm big blanket
  • Diapers:
  • Hats
  • Child restraint seats are essential for transporting your baby in a car buying one that is convertible and usable until your child reaches 10 Kg or 1 year
  • Nursing Nest Pillow: to make breast feeding comfortable for mothers especially after C- section
  • Nasal Suction Bulb. A suction bulb is essential for helping young babies with breathing difficulties caused by sticky or dried nasal secretions. A suction bulb with a blunt tip is more effective and less likely to irritate the nasal lining than the ones with long, tapered tips
  • Thermometer. A rectal thermometer is most helpful if your baby becomes sick
Things that are usually not needed

  • Bottles and Nipples: are not usually needed as your baby will be exclusively breast fed, unless your lactation consultant has another decision by feeding your baby formula.
  • Pacifier: are not preferred (esp. before the age of 6 weeks) as it may interfere with the mechanism of suckling from the nipple
For the mother
·         A gown, night dress or pyjamas, for sleeping and matching with breastfeeding
·         Slippers
·         Pairs of socks
·         Underwear's
·         Nursing bras & pads
·         Towel
·         Sanitary napkins
·         Toiletries (bath napkins, toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, lotion, deodorant, and hairbrush)
·         Going home outfit

Finally do not forget your camera (and chargers) for the happy moments
