Excessive warmth and overdressing are as harmful as cold weather. Temperature inside your home should not exceed 23 degrees ||Don't ever be afraid to ask for help from a friend or relative. Time away will let you recharge. ||Only close friends and relatives should visit you during your first month at home. They should not visit if they are sick ||If your child's scalp is very crusty, put some baby oil or olive oil on the scalp 1 hour before washing to soften the crust ||Set aside time to spend with each child individually, so they don't feel like they're competing for your attention ||As a new baby mother who has to breast feed you should make sure that you drink lots of water ... Make a habit out of drinking a glass of water every time you feed your baby. This will ensure that you are getting your water, and help your body produce enough milk. ||Exclusive breastfeeding for at least 6 months is the best prevention of food allergies ||Don't let your baby nap in the car seat after you're home as a substitute for crib since it's harder for young babies to breathe in that position. ||Breastfeeding releases Oxytocin which causes contractions of the uterus, helping to stop hemorrhage and initiating weight loss ||If you have trouble emptying your breast, apply warm compresses to the breast or take a warm shower before breast-feeding ||

• It is a physiological phenomenon due to spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm.
• it is mostly not a Warning sign for any critical illness which usually stops spontenuously.
• it is frequent in children and is usually more tolerable by them compared to the adults.
• it might interfere with breast feeding as the baby will stop suckling during Hiccup.
• It is more common with overfeeding or air swallowing with teat use.

Tips to stop Hiccup

  • The baby should be held in an upright position with gentle rubbing of his back
  • Drinking a small amount of warm water usually helps
