The most important thing on growth curves is how your baby grows over time. If he's small but growing at the appropriate rate, there's usually no cause for concern. ||Excessive warmth and overdressing are as harmful as cold weather. Temperature inside your home should not exceed 23 degrees ||To help your kid stand up to negative peer pressure, encourage him to talk, use role playing with him, get to know the parents of your child's friends and finally deal with your own peer pressure. ||Until your baby is 6 months old, he'll get all the hydration he needs from breast milk or formula, even in hot weather ||Your baby should have 4-6 wet diapers per day. This is a great way to monitor if they're getting enough milk ||AAP recommends to avoid blankets (a potential suffocation hazard) until your baby reaches her first birthday ||Don’t forget to put labels with date and time on your expressed milk bottles to check expiry dates ||Always check the water temperature with your hand before bathing your baby. Be sure the room is comfortably warm, too ||Look for early signs of hunger, such as stirring and stretching, sucking motions and lip movements. Fussing and crying are later cues ||As a new baby mother who has to breast feed you should make sure that you drink lots of water ... Make a habit out of drinking a glass of water every time you feed your baby. This will ensure that you are getting your water, and help your body produce enough milk. ||
Pumping tips at work

Pumping breastmilk can be a challenge but hopefully these tips will help:

  • Ask ahead of time for an arrangement if your company doesn't have a lactation room and you don't have an office.
  • Pump as soon as you get to work. In the morning you'll have more milk and you'll be less likely to put it off once you're involved in a project. Stay on schedule. Pump at regular intervals. Dont skip pumping sessions, and if you must, manually express to keep your supply up.
  • Wear nursing pads every day, so that if you leak during the day it will not be visible to others
  • Make sure that you have the correct size breast flange.
  • Take video of your baby crying and cooing if you have a phone that will do so. This helps to have a pretty fast let-down.
  • Store your breastmilk in a cooler with icepacks so that you do not forget your expressed breastmilk at work.
  • Keep your local lactation consultants number on speed dial for questions and support.
