Lifting under the armpits is the safest way ||The AAP recommends sponge baths until the umbilical cord stump falls off — which might take up to three weeks ||Set aside time for your partner and share what's happening in each other's life ||Alternate the first breast you offer at each feed ||Don't forget to watch what you say and do around your child: Imitation is one of the ways toddlers learn socially acceptable behavior. ||If every feeding is painful or your baby isn't gaining weight, ask a lactation consultant or your baby's doctor for help ||If you have trouble emptying your breast, apply warm compresses to the breast or take a warm shower before breast-feeding ||Make sure the highchair has a wide base, good fit, adjustable secure straps. Consider a post between the child's legs. ||
